Disaster Recovery Reserve Corps

DRRC

What is the mission of the Disaster Recovery Reserve Corps (DRRC)?

The mission of the DRRC is to jumpstart the disaster recovery process by hiring and training a pool of highly qualified reservists who can be activated to assist survivors following a federally declared disaster.

What does the DRRC do?

Following a federally declared disaster, Reservists are activated to become a part of the SCOR Disaster Case Management (DCM) team. The DCM team provides a single point of contact to identify and facilitate access to a broad range of resources to address individuals' disaster-caused unmet needs. Reservists may also assist with damage assessments, compliance, operations, and other recovery activities.

Impacted individuals with needs ranging from housing repair, household goods, counseling services, and more work with a case manager who consults SCOR's extensive network of resource partners to help meet those needs.

Who can apply to become a Reservist?

The DRRC is a diverse group of individuals who come from all walks of life. SCOR actively recruits:

  • Former and retired disaster recovery and emergency management professionals
  • Former and retired state or federal agency employees
  • Veterans
  • College or graduate students
  • Recent college graduates
  • And others whose circumstances allow them to be activated into service at any time following a federally declared disaster

SCOR intends to hire Reservists in all 46 counties of South Carolina. DRRC recruitment regionsReservists will be hired to respond to disasters in or near the area they live, but may also be activated to respond to disasters in other areas based on availability.

Reservists are required to attend 2 paid trainings per year to remain eligible for activation.
