FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The South Carolina Office of Resilience (SCOR) Disaster Recovery Office will hold its next Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery Steering Committee meeting at 11:00 a.m. on November 15, 2022. The meeting will be held at 632 Rosewood Drive, Columbia, South Carolina.

During the meeting, Committee members will review and approve of grants to local governments for proposed mitigation projects.

The last Committee meeting was held on January 20, 2022. During that meeting, $19,775,474 was approved for mitigation infrastructure grant funding for stormwater and drainage improvements in Horry County, Dillon County, the City of Dillon, the City of Florence, the Town of Cheraw, and the City of Isle of Palms. The Steering Committee also approved another $4,933,225 in mitigation buyout grant funding for the City of Bennettsville.

The South Carolina Office of Resilience was formed in 2020 by SC Code §48-62-10, and serves the state in three ways:

1. Housing recovery following a federally declared disaster
2. Mitigation against future flood risks
3. Resilience planning

Since 2015, SCOR has replaced, rebuilt and rehabilitated 3,200 houses across our Disaster Recovery programs.
