The South Carolina Office of Resilience is currently accepting applications for CDBG-MIT infrastructure and buyout projects from any county-level or municipality-level government in Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Chesterfield, Clarendon, Darlington, Dillon, Dorchester, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, Orangeburg, Sumter, and Williamsburg counties through October 6, 2021.

Applications will be accepted for public infrastructure projects designed to reduce future flood risks as well as housing buyout projects targeted to communities within the floodplain. Infrastructure projects cannot include maintenance projects or operations.

If applicants do not have shovel-ready infrastructure projects, they may apply for a study to identify specific needs in their area. Counties or municipalities in South Carolina may apply for a CDBG-MIT plan or study or match grant at any time. Counties and municipalities may choose to manage infrastructure or buyout projects themselves or for projects to be managed by the Office of Resilience. Project award notifications will be sent in February 2022 for project implementations beginning in April.

To apply, applicants should visit https://admin.sc.gov/SCDRO/MitigationProgram. Only units of local government should apply for CDBG-MIT funded programs. If you are an individual homeowner whose property was damaged in a previous storm and would like to be considered for a buyout, contact your local government to notify them of your interest. If substantial interest is shown, the local government may apply on behalf of the property owners for a buyout project.
