COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Office of Resilience (SCOR) looks to hire temporary part-time hourly employees to form a statewide Disaster Recovery Reserve Corps (DRRC) as part of its new Disaster Recovery Rapid Implementation Plan. The plan is designed to greatly reduce the time needed to provide assistance to South Carolina citizens following a disaster in areas that have a declaration.

The DRRC is a unique opportunity for individuals to serve their communities in the aftermath of future disasters. The DRRC will be comprised of positions in various areas including case management, construction, operations, development, outreach, eligibility, advocacy, and other various support positions. A team of Reserve Corp members will be identified in each of the 46 counties in South Carolina. Corps associates will be activated based on the location of the disaster and the specific disaster response and recovery activities the State decides to deploy.

The formation of a statewide Reserve Corps will help SCOR significantly accelerate the delivery of relief and reduce the time needed for recovery in areas impacted by a disaster.

Individuals in South Carolina with relevant experience are encouraged to apply. Prior experience in the military, disaster relief and recovery, customer service, social work, or working for voluntary organizations is preferred; however, applicants with other relevant experience and entry level applicants will be considered.

To apply, applicants should visit scor.sc.gov/careers. The South Carolina Office of Resilience’s Disaster Recovery Division will be accepting applications on a continual basis through the summer of 2022. For more information, please call 803-737-2707 or send an email to tasha.milhouse@scor.sc.gov.
