The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the allocation of Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) funds April 10, 2018.

HUD published the Federal Register notice providing for the use of the $157M CDBG-MIT funds August 30, 2019. In January 2020, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) notified the State of South Carolina that it would receive $4,598,000 in supplemental CDBG-MIT grant funds, bringing the total State of South Carolina CDBG-MIT allocation to $162,188,000.

The South Carolina Office of Resilience (SCOR) will use Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) grant funds for mitigation activities that will increase resilience to disasters and reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of loss of life, injury, damage to and loss of property, and suffering and hardship, by lessening the impact of future disasters.

The counties highlighted below were declared to be the most impacted and distressed (MID) counties in South Carolina. All Mitigation work done by SCOR is focused in these areas.
